Vote for Donald Delucca for 4th Vice President of the IACP

July 8, 2013 by Admin

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) was founded with the goal of fostering police cooperation through the open exchange of knowledge, information, and experience.  This sharing helps advance the science and art of police services by keeping law enforcement professionals abreast of the latest tactics and techniques.  This includes both operational and administrative practices that are used in police work.

A brief look back

The IACP has been a force for good in the law enforcement community for nearly 120 years now. In that time, the association has collaborated with numerous federal agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).  In fact, their Identification Division and Uniform Crime Records system was created with aid and advice from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.  The association was also one of the first law enforcement groups to support and promote the national use of fingerprint IDs.

Yearly meetings

The 120th IACP Annual Conference will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from October 19-23, 2013. This premier law enforcement event draws thousands of members from across the country and around the globe. They come to share stories and new techniques, encounter the latest technologies, and to learn from those around them.  But it isn’t all fun and games at the annual conference; there’s business to be done.

At this year’s conference in October, there are two open positions on the Board of Officers of the IACP that members will vote on. They will cast their ballots for candidates that are running for the Vice-President at Large title and on the 4th Vice President spot.  Former police Chief Donald Delucca is running for the latter.

Who is Chief Don De Lucca of the IACP?

To begin with, he is a man who has dedicated his entire adult life to law enforcement, first as a police officer in the City of Miami Beach and later as the chief of police of that city. Before he retired from his post in 2007, the former officer earned high marks for his commitment to continued education and training in one of the largest police departments in the South Florida area. Mr. Delucca currently serves as police chief of Golden Beach, Florida.

Why you should cast your vote for Donald Delucca?

As we mentioned earlier, the mission of the IACP has always been to emphasize education and additional training.  New tactics, techniques, and practices can help a department function more efficiently, which means cost savings for ordinary citizens. But even more importantly, it produces a smarter, better trained police force that can always stay one step ahead of the criminals, thereby ensuring the safety of local, law-abiding residents.

For over three decades now, Donald Delucca of the IACP has consistently stressed the importance of continued learning, both as a police officer and as a police chief. He knows from personal experience that the only way to win the war on crime is to be smarter and more motivated than the crooks.  It is for this reason and many others that Donald Delucca is the best choice for 4th Vice Present of the IACP.
