Golden Beach Police Chief Donald De Lucca started his law enforcement career in 1981 as a police officer in the City of Miami Beach. During his 26 plus years with the agency he rose steadily through the ranks holding numerous administrative and operational positions which prepared him for the challenges of policing . In 2001 Don was named Police Chief in Miami Beach a position he held until his retirement in 2007. He was responsible for an agency of 400 sworn officers serving a diverse community of 95,000 residents which had 10,000,000 visitors a year. Miami Beach was known for its “South Beach” destination and special events.
Don has been a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Florida Police Chiefs Association, Police Executive Research Forum, Interport Police Association (9-11 committee), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives and the Miami Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police.
